Home Remedies for Children's ANXIETY

•Touch works wonders for any anxiety condition. A soothing foot

massage is a particularly effective way to comfort a fretful baby.

Working both feet at the same time, rub with your thumbs from the

centre of the sole of the foot, over the ball and towards the bottom

of the toes. Repeat until baby is settled.

You can either do this though baby's clothes or use the following

aroma therapy oils:

Chamomile and Lavender are particularly soothing; both are safe to

use on newborn babies. Add the appropriate number of drops of

either essence to an Almond oil base. This aromatherapy oil can be

used to massage the feet or can be added to the bath.

Appropriate number of drops

Age Drops per 30 ml Base Oil

Newborn to 2 months 1-2 drops

2 to 6 months 2-3 drops

6 to 12 months 3-4 drops

1 to 5 years 4-6 drops

5 to 7 years 6-10 drops

7 to 12 years 8-12 drops

•For children over 6: a 50: 50 blend of Chamomile and Lavender can

be dropped onto the pillow and used in a vaporizer to fragrance the

bedroom.

•Make an infusion from a blend of Chamomile flowers, Lime flowers

and Orange blossom. Add 1 teaspoon of each herb to a pint (600 ml)

of boiling water. When cooled, give the recommended dosage.

Avoid giving any drinks containing caffeine, such as cocoa, cola,

coffee or tea, as this stimulating chemical can make your child feel

more anxious.

Recommended dosage

Newborn to 2 years 1 teaspoon

2 to 6 years 2 to 3 teaspoon

6 to 10 years 1 tablespoon
