Insomnia Understanding and Solutions

Insomnia can be a chronic condition for some people. But for the vast majority of those that suffer from Insomnia they dont even know that they have what could become a very serious

condition.

Many times it may begin as a symptom of an illness or during a particularly stressful time in someone's life. Other times it may be that the condition progresses gradually and people may feel that it is just something that they must learn to live with.

Sleep disorders, in general are not recognized and therefore not treated in their early stages.

This is the main reason that Insomnia, sleep apnea, sleep paralysis and other related sleep problems often become so acute.

Treatments for Insomnia and other related sleep disorders range from all natural sleep enhancers such as herbs, teas, and yoga, and yes even Warm Milk!

Believe it or not a simple cup of warm milk may be all you need to help you fall asleep. There is a scientific reason why warm milk is effective for some people.

There is a chemical that is released in milk once it is heated. This chemical is called tryptophan and it works to relax the body and help you to drift off to sleep. Besides being a natural remedy for insomnia, milk also has the added benefit of being a significant source of calcium.

The most common treatment of chronic insomnia is through medication.

Too often people become dependent on the medication they are prescribed to treat their sleep related issues, and in some cases have to stay on that medication for the rest of their lives.

Some of the most common causes of Insomnia are Medical Conditions, Emotional Disorders, Hormonal Changes during Aging, Nightly Leg Problems, Response to Change or Stress, Working Conditions, Medications, Environmental Factors, Behavioral factors such as over use of caffeine, alcohol or

other substances. Even your partners snoring can be the root of the problem.

Age may also play apart in sleep related problems. Insomnia occurs more frequently in people over the age of sixty and the prevalence of insomnia may be 40% or higher for women over the age of 40.

If you are experiencing difficulty getting a good full nights rest or even just falling asleep naturally, take the time to see your doctor. Remember the old saying about an ounce of

prevention dont you?
